About this Blog

Gorilla Doctors is dedicated to saving the mountain gorilla species one patient at a time. We are the only group providing wild mountain and Grauer's gorillas with direct, hands-on medicial care. Research has proven that by intervening to save sick and injured gorillas, the Gorilla Doctors have helped the overall mountain gorilla population to increase. Learn more at GorillaDoctors.org.

Your generous donation will directly support gorilla monitoring, life-saving medical interventions, and health studies to save the critically endangered gorillas

Employee Profile: Meet Schadrack Niyonzima

By Molly Feltner, MGVP Communications Officer

Schadrack Niyonzima works as the Administrative Assistant at our regional headquarters in Musanze, Rwanda, and has been a vital member of the team since joining us in September 2010. Thanks to Schadrack's management skills and political and business savvy,  MGVP's local operations run smoothly. As the MGVP Administrative Assistant, Schadrack organizes our administrative documents, maintains good relations with local leaders and the government, manages our accounts, and carries out many human resource tasks.

"My favorite things about MGVP including working with a great staff and being part of an organization that works with gorillas. I saw gorillas with MGVP and it was a good experience. I also like that the fact that we have many dogs (five), especially the young ones Boots and Ama. Before I was afraid of dogs but now I like them."

Ama and Boots won Schadrack over.

A Rwandan by nationality, Schadrack was born in DR Congo where his father worked a missionary. He has lived in several Central and East African countries.  He received his degree in Management and Accounting from Adventist University for Central Africa (UAAC) in Kigali, and has 5 years of experience working with International NGOs. He is very interested in business, and in helping people in developing countries by teaching them new ways of doing business. Outside of MGVP, he and his wife Esperance run a small business selling children's clothing. Together they have three beautiful small children, Credia, Uwamahoro Ellan, and Kristal.
